This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the approach taken by House Clearance Haringey to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a fundamental violation of human rights. We are committed to acting ethically in all our business dealings and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in any part of our organisation or in our wider supply chains.
House Clearance Haringey has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking. This commitment applies to every part of our business, from direct employees and agency workers to contractors and suppliers. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation that does not share and uphold these standards.
Our leadership team is responsible for promoting a culture of integrity and transparency. All managers are expected to lead by example, ensuring that decisions reflect our values and that concerns relating to modern slavery are taken seriously and investigated promptly. Breaches of this policy by staff may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Breaches by suppliers may lead to suspension or termination of contracts.
Our services rely on a network of suppliers and contractors, including providers of transport, waste management, recycling, equipment, and ancillary services. We are committed to working only with suppliers who respect human rights and operate in compliance with all relevant labour laws.
We communicate our expectations to suppliers through our purchasing processes and contract terms. Suppliers are required to confirm that they do not tolerate modern slavery in their own operations and that they take reasonable steps to ensure their own supply chains are free from such practices.
To support this, we implement proportionate supplier audits and checks. These may include pre-engagement questionnaires, verification of business registration and trading history, risk-based reviews of working conditions, and requests for evidence of the supplier’s own modern slavery policies and procedures. Where risks are identified, we will work collaboratively with the supplier to address them through corrective action plans, increased monitoring, or, where necessary, by ending the business relationship.
House Clearance Haringey expects all staff, including temporary workers and contractors engaged on our sites, to be vigilant and to report any concerns relating to modern slavery or human trafficking. We provide guidance on recognising potential indicators, such as signs of coercion, restriction of movement, unusual dependency on third parties, or poor living and working conditions.
Concerns can be reported through multiple channels. Employees may raise issues with their line manager, a senior manager, or directly with our designated compliance contact. Reports can be made in person, by phone, or in writing. We treat all concerns in confidence, investigate them sensitively, and take appropriate action. We will never tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who reports a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
We recognise that the risks of modern slavery can change over time and that continuous improvement is essential. To that end, House Clearance Haringey reviews this Modern Slavery Statement and our related procedures on an annual basis. The review considers any incidents or concerns raised, changes in our business operations or supply chains, developments in legislation, and evolving best practice.
As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our risk assessments, supplier due diligence, training and awareness activities, and reporting mechanisms. Where opportunities for improvement are identified, we will update our policies, strengthen our controls, and provide additional communication or guidance to staff and suppliers.
This Statement has been approved by the management of House Clearance Haringey and reflects our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in every aspect of our business.
